Terms of Service
The rules for using FLUX and its website: rights and responsibilities, limits of liability, suspension and ending use.
Last updated
These terms apply to the FLUX website and the services offered on it — the waitlist, the newsletter, the documentation — and to FLUX itself once you are given access to it, including early access. FLUX is operated by Bash Soft ("we", "us"). By using them you accept these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use them.
1. FLUX is in development#
FLUX is a messaging project under active development. On this site, every capability is marked with its real state — Implemented, Experimental, Research or Planned — and only what is marked Implemented exists in working form. Features may change, be delayed or be removed. Early-access versions may contain errors and should not be relied on as your only means of communication.
2. Who can use FLUX#
You must be at least 16 years old. If you use FLUX on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you may accept these terms for it.
3. Using the website and its services#
The website, the waitlist and the newsletter are free. When you use them, do not:
- sign up anyone else's email address, or sign up in bulk or by automated means;
- try to get around rate limits, bot checks or other security measures, or to access data or accounts that are not yours;
- disrupt the site or its infrastructure (for example by flooding it with requests);
- use the site to send spam, malware or unlawful content.
Security research in good faith is welcome — please follow the reporting rules in our Security & Data Notice.
4. Using FLUX#
When you use FLUX:
- You hold your keys. FLUX is designed so that your encryption keys and message history stay on your devices. We cannot read your messages, and we cannot recover them, or your keys, if you lose your device or data. Keep your device secure, and use a backup where the app offers one.
- Use it lawfully. Do not use FLUX to break the law, to harass or threaten people, to send spam or malware, or to share content that exploits children.
- Respect others' privacy. The people you write to can keep, copy or screenshot what you send them.
Because messages are end-to-end encrypted, we do not monitor their content. We can act only on what we can observe or on reports we receive.
5. Suspension and ending use#
You can stop using FLUX at any time: unsubscribe from our emails, leave the waitlist, and ask us to delete your data (see the Privacy Policy).
We may suspend or end your access to the waitlist, early access or other services if you break these terms, if the law requires it, or if it is needed to protect FLUX, its users or others. Where we reasonably can, we tell you why and give you a chance to respond first. We may also end a service or the project itself; if we do, we give reasonable notice where we can.
6. Open-source code#
Parts of FLUX are published as open-source code. That code is governed by the license in its repository (see Licenses & Open Source), and nothing in these terms limits the rights that license gives you.
7. Names, logos and content#
The FLUX name and logo, and the content of this website, belong to Bash Soft unless stated otherwise. You may quote and link to our content, but these terms give you no right to use our name or logo in a way that suggests we endorse you.
8. Donations#
Donations are voluntary gifts to support the project. You receive no goods, services, rights or special treatment in return. Blockchain transactions cannot be reversed, so check the address on our support page carefully: we never ask you, in a private message or anywhere else, to send money to a different address.
9. No warranty#
The website and FLUX are provided "as is" and "as available". We work to keep them secure and reliable, but we cannot promise that they will be uninterrupted, free of errors, or secure against every attack. Do not rely on FLUX for emergency or safety-critical communication.
10. Liability#
To the extent the law allows, Bash Soft is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, profits or messages arising from your use of the website or FLUX. Nothing in these terms limits liability for intent or gross negligence, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any right you have under mandatory consumer protection law.
11. Changes to these terms#
We may change these terms, for example when FLUX gains new features. We update the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell subscribers by email before they take effect. Continuing to use FLUX after a change means you accept it.
12. Applicable law#
These terms are governed by the law of the country where Bash Soft is established. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring proceedings in its courts.
